Operating rules for automatic transmissions:

When starting the engine:

*Always set the parking brake.
*Keep the brake pedal depressed.
* Start the engine.
* Make sure the gear shift lever is in Park (P) or Neutral (N).

When changing gears:

*Keep the brake pedal depressed.
* Move the gear shift lever to the desired position.
* Release the brake pedal and start driving.

When keeping the vehicle stationary:

*Keep the brake pedal depressed.
* Move the gear shift lever to Park (P) or Neutral (N) position.
* Apply the parking brake.

When towing:

*Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for towing instructions.
* In most cases, automatic vehicles can be towed short distances at speeds up to 50 km/h.
* The gear shift lever must be in the neutral (N) position.

When driving on a slippery surface:

* Downshift manually if possible.
*Turn on the skid control or traction control if applicable.
* Increase your braking distance.

If overheated:

*If the transmission temperature increases, the indicator on the instrument panel may turn on.
* Stop the vehicle and allow the transmission to cool.
* Check the level and condition of the transmission fluid.

Other important recommendations:

* Change the transmission fluid and filter regularly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Aggressive driving, such as sudden acceleration and braking, can damage the transmission.
*Do not tow heavy trailers unless permitted by the manufacturer.
* If you notice any problems with the transmission (slipping, jerking, unusual noises), contact your mechanic immediately.
