Resetting automatic transmission settings after changing the oil

After changing the oil in an automatic transmission (automatic transmission), you need to reset its settings. This ensures that the automatic transmission adapts to the new oil and shifts gears correctly.

Steps to reset automatic transmission:

1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.

2. Make sure the gear selector is in the “P” (Park) position.

3. Press and hold the brake pedal for at least 30 seconds.

4. Release the brake pedal.

5. Move the gear selector to all positions and hold in each position for 2-3 seconds.

6. Return the gear selector to the “P” position.

7. Start the engine.

8. Drive the car for several minutes, alternating between different driving modes (city driving, highway driving, etc.).

9. Stop the car and check the transmission fluid level again, top up if necessary.

Notes:

* Not all cars have an automatic transmission reset function. Check your vehicle’s owner’s manual to see if this procedure applies to your model.
*Some vehicles may require a diagnostic scanner to perform a factory reset.
