Resetting automatic transmission adaptation on Volkswagen Touareg using VCDS (VAG-COM)
Requirements:
* VCDS diagnostic cable (VAG-COM)
* Laptop or PC with VCDS software installed
Instructions:
1. Connect the VCDS diagnostic cable to the vehicle’s OBD-II diagnostic port.
2. Launch VCDS software on your laptop or PC.
3. Select “Select”, then “17 – Instruments”.
4. Go to the “Adaptation” section (Basic settings – 10).
5. Select channel “02 – Gear shift points”.
6. Change the value in the “New Value” field to “0”.
7. Click “Save”.
8. Restart the engine and the transmission should adapt to your driving style again.
Note:
* Resetting the automatic transmission adaptation may lead to a temporary change in the behavior of the transmission. Give the car time to relearn your driving style.
*If you still experience problems after resetting the automatic transmission, consult a qualified mechanic.
