Required tools:
* Smartphone or tablet with the Mercedes Benz STAR Diagnosis application
* Bluetooth or Wi-Fi diagnostic adapter (compatible with MB STAR Diagnosis)
* USB or OTG cable (to connect the adapter to the device)
Steps to reset automatic transmission adaptation:
1. Start the engine and engage park (P).
2. Connect the diagnostic adapter to the OBD-II connector and to your device.
3. Launch the Mercedes Benz STAR Diagnosis application.
4. Select “Diagnostics” -> “Transmission” -> “Transmission Control” -> “Adaptation Reset”.
5. Confirm the adaptation reset by clicking “Yes”.
6. Wait for the process to complete.
7. Turn off the engine and start it again.
8. Drive in different modes (P, R, N, D) for several minutes to allow the transmission to adapt to your driving conditions.
Notes:
* Make sure you have the latest STAR Diagnosis app update.
*Use a high quality diagnostic adapter to avoid communication failures.
*After an adaptation reset, the transmission may not behave as expected for a while until it adapts to your driving habits.
*If you still experience transmission problems after resetting the adaptation, contact a qualified Mercedes-Benz mechanic.
