Tools and materials:

* Set of socket wrenches
* 5 mm hex key
* Flat head screwdriver
* New automatic transmission selector position sensor

Steps:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Place the gear shift lever in the «P» position.
3. Remove the lower trim of the instrument panel:
— Unscrew the two screws under the steering column using a screwdriver.
— Remove the trim by pulling it down.
4. Find the automatic transmission selector position sensor:
— It is usually located on the left side of the transmission, under the gear lever.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector of the sensor:
— Press the connector latch and remove it.
6. Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt using a 10 mm socket wrench:
— Loosen the bolt, but do not unscrew it completely.
7. Remove the sensor from the gearbox:
— Gently rock the sensor and remove it.
8. Install the new sensor:
— Insert the new sensor into the gearbox and tighten the mounting bolt.
9. Connect the electrical connector of the sensor:
— Make sure the connector latch is locked in place.
10. Reinstall the lower trim of the instrument panel.
11. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
12. Check the operation of the automatic transmission selector position sensor:
— Start the engine and shift the gear lever to all positions.
— Make sure that the correct position of the lever is displayed on the instrument panel.
