Required tools and materials:

* Set of socket wrenches
* Pliers
* New transmission pan gasket
* New transmission oil filter
* New gear oil (check recommended type and volume for your specific Toyota model)
* Extra drain oil

Instructions:

1. Preparation for replacement:

* Start the engine, let it run for a few minutes, then turn it off. This will allow the transmission oil to warm up and drain.
* Raise the car on a lift or jack. Make sure it is securely fastened.
*Locate the transmission pan, which is usually a large metal plate on the bottom of the transmission.

2. Draining transmission oil:

* Place a drain container under the transmission pan.
* Unscrew the pan drain plug using a socket wrench.
* Allow the gear oil to drain completely into the container.

3. Removing the transmission pan:

* Unscrew the bolts around the perimeter of the tray using a socket wrench.
* Carefully separate the pan from the transmission housing. The pan may contain some old oil, so be careful not to spill it.
* Remove the old pan gasket.

4. Replacing the oil filter:

*Locate the oil filter inside the pan.
*Use pliers to unscrew the filter and remove it.
* Insert the new oil filter and tighten it with pliers.

5. Installing the transmission pan:

* Apply sealant or new gasket to the pan.
* Attach the pan to the transmission housing and tighten the bolts with a socket wrench.

6. Refilling with transmission oil:

* Locate the filler hole on the transmission. It is usually located on the top or side.
* Using a funnel, pour new transmission oil into the filler hole. Fill the oil to the level indicated on the dipstick or in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

7. Checking the oil level:

* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into place.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the “min” marks. and “max.”

8. Resetting the oil change counter:

*If your Toyota has an oil change alert system, you may need to reset the oil change counter. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for reset instructions.

* Check the transmission oil level regularly and add it as needed.
*Change the transmission fluid and filter according to the recommended interval found in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Use transmission oil recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
