Required tools and materials:
*Socket wrench or wrench
* Torque converter oil seal remover
* New torque converter oil seal
* Sealant
* Grease
* Rags or paper towels
* Transmission fluid
Replacement procedure:
1. Preparation:
* Place the vehicle on a lift or on supports.
* Allow the engine to cool.
* Drain the transmission fluid.
2. Removing the torque converter:
* Disconnect the drive shaft from the torque converter.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the torque converter to the flywheel.
* Carefully slide the torque converter away from the flywheel.
3. Removing the old oil seal:
* Insert the oil seal puller into the oil seal hole on the torque converter.
* Hook the puller onto the edge of the oil seal.
* Carefully remove the oil seal.
4. Surface cleaning:
* Thoroughly clean the surface of the oil seal hole on the torque converter to remove old sealant and dirt.
* Thoroughly clean the surface of the flywheel to which the oil seal is attached.
5. Installing a new oil seal:
* Lightly lubricate the working surface of the new oil seal with grease.
* Insert the new oil seal into the hole on the torque converter.
* Gently tap the seal with a hammer until it is completely seated.
6. Installation of torque converter:
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the oil seal surface that will contact the flywheel.
* Install the torque converter to the flywheel.
* Tighten the torque converter mounting bolts to the specified torque.
7. Installation of the drive shaft:
* Install the drive shaft onto the torque converter.
8. Transmission filling:
* Pour transmission fluid into the gearbox.
* Start the engine and let it run until it reaches operating temperature.
* Check the transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
9. Final check:
* Check for leaks where the oil seal is installed.
