Steps to replace the Range Rover Sport automatic transmission torque converter:
1. Ensure safety. Place the vehicle on a level surface, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.
2. Drain the transmission fluid. Place a container under the transmission housing to drain the fluid. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid.
3. Remove the transmission pan. Unscrew the bolts securing the pan and remove it using a flathead screwdriver.
4. Remove the old torque converter. Using a wrench, remove the bolt securing the torque converter to the engine crankshaft. Pull the torque converter back to disconnect it.
5. Clean surfaces. Clean the surface of the engine crankshaft and transmission housing using a metal brush and degreaser.
6. Install a new torque converter gasket. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the new gasket and install it to the transmission housing.
7. Install a new torque converter. Install the new torque converter onto the transmission housing and push it into place.
8. Tighten the torque converter bolt. Insert the bolt into the torque converter and tighten it with a torque wrench to the torque specified in the manual.
9. Install the transmission pan. Install the gasket onto the pan and tighten the pan mounting bolts.
10. Replace the transmission filter. Remove the old filter from the transmission housing and replace it with a new one.
11. Fill with new transmission fluid. Using a funnel, fill the gearbox with new gear oil according to the specified volume.
12. Check the fluid level. Start the engine and let it warm up. Check the transmission fluid level using the dipstick. Add fluid if necessary.
13. Reset transmission adaptation settings. Connect the diagnostic scanner and reset the transmission adaptation settings.
