Tools and materials:
* New torque converter
* Gear oil
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant for automatic transmission
* Socket wrenches
* Hex keys
* Jack and stands
* Torque converter puller
* Oil drain container
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Raise the car on a jack and place it on stands.
2. Draining transmission oil:
* Place the oil drain container under the automatic transmission pan.
* Unscrew the pan drain plug and drain the oil.
* Replace the drain plug and tighten it.
3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully lower the pan so as not to spill any remaining oil.
4. Removing the torque converter:
*Use a torque converter puller to remove the torque converter from the engine and transmission.
* Remove the torque converter.
5. Installing a new torque converter:
* Install the new torque converter in place.
* Tighten the torque converter mounting bolts.
6. Installing the automatic transmission pan:
* Apply sealant to the automatic transmission pan gasket.
* Install the gasket on the pan.
* Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the fastening bolts.
7. Replacing the automatic transmission filter:
* Remove the old automatic transmission filter.
* Install a new filter.
8. Filling transmission oil:
* Pour new gear oil into the gearbox through the dipstick hole.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick.
9. Final assembly:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Remove the vehicle from the stands.
* Check the transmission oil level again.
10. Gearbox adaptation:
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift the transmission into each position and return to the park position.
* Repeat the process several times to allow the automatic transmission to adapt to the new torque converter.
Note:
* Torque converter replacement time varies depending on vehicle make and model.
* It is recommended to recheck the transmission oil level after driving several hundred kilometers.
