Tools and materials:

* New torque converter
* Torque converter O-ring
* Torque converter bolt wrench
* Rags
* Automatic transmission pan
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant for automatic transmission pan
* Transmission fluid

Replacement procedure:

1. Preparation

* Place the car on a lift or on a flat surface.
* Drain the transmission fluid from the automatic transmission.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Removing the torque converter

* Loosen the bolts securing the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
* Screw two long bolts into the holes on the torque converter to carefully lift it away from the flywheel.
* Remove the torque converter.

3. Installation of the torque converter

* Install a new O-ring on the torque converter.
* Install the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
* Tighten the bolts securing the torque converter to the flywheel.
* Make sure the torque converter is installed correctly and torqued to the correct torque.

4. Installing the automatic transmission pan

* Install a new gasket on the automatic transmission pan.
* Apply sealant to the edges of the pan.
* Install the pan on the automatic transmission.
* Tighten the pan bolts.

5. Final work

* Pour new transmission fluid into the automatic transmission.
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Start the engine and check the transmission fluid level.
* Drive the car to check the operation of the automatic transmission.
* Check the automatic transmission pan for leaks.

Adviсe:

* Label the bolts so you can install them in the correct order later.
* Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts to the correct torque.
* Thoroughly clean the surfaces from which the old sealant will be removed.
* Make sure that the torque converter is correctly seated on the automatic transmission input shaft.
* It is recommended to replace the automatic transmission pan gasket along with replacing the torque converter.
