Tools and materials:

* New speed sensor
* Set of keys
* Phillips head screwdriver
* Rags
* Silent block remover (optional)

Steps to replace the speed sensor:

1. Place the car in park. Apply the parking brake.

2. Remove the lower engine casing. It is usually secured with several bolts or clips.

3. Find the speed sensor. It is usually located near the transmission or differential.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector. Press the connector latch and pull it forward.

5. Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt. Some models may use a clamp instead of a bolt.

6. Pull the sensor out of the transmission. If the sensor is stuck, use a silent block puller to carefully remove it.

7. Clean the seat. Remove any dirt or debris from the surface where the sensor is installed.

8. Lubricate the new sensor. Apply a small amount of high temperature grease to the sensor O-rings.

9. Install a new sensor. Carefully insert the sensor into the seat.

10. Tighten the mounting bolt. Tighten the bolt until the sensor is secure, but do not overtighten it.

11. Connect the electrical connector. Press the connector until it clicks.

12. Reinstall the lower engine cover.

13. Reset fault codes. Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle and clear any trouble codes related to the speed sensor.
