Materials required to replace the radiator on a Hyundai Sonata Tagaz with automatic transmission:
* New radiator
* Coolant (antifreeze)
* Sealant for gaskets
* Tools:
* Screwdriver set
* Set of keys
* Forceps
* Coolant drain container
Instructions for replacing the radiator:
1. Relieve pressure in the cooling system. Carefully open the radiator cap slightly without removing it completely to allow gases to escape.
2. Drain the coolant. Place a drain container under the radiator. Loosen the lower drain bolt or disconnect the lower hose leading to the radiator to drain the fluid.
3. Disconnect the radiator hoses. Remove the clamps and disconnect the upper and lower hoses from the radiator.
4. Remove the radiator fan. Disconnect the fan’s electrical connector and remove the bolts or screws securing it to the radiator. Support the fan while you disconnect it.
5. Disconnect the automatic transmission oil cooler. If the radiator is equipped with an automatic transmission oil cooler, disconnect it from the radiator.
6. Unscrew the radiator mounting bolts. Typically, the radiator is attached to the car with four bolts. Unscrew these bolts.
7. Remove the old radiator. Carefully remove the old radiator from the engine compartment.
Installing a new radiator:
1. Install a new radiator. Insert the new radiator in place of the old one and secure it with bolts.
2. Connect the radiator hoses. Place the hoses onto the radiator and tighten the clamps.
3. Connect the radiator fan. Reinstall the radiator fan and tighten the bolts. Connect the electrical connector.
4. Connect the automatic transmission oil cooler. If the radiator is equipped with an automatic transmission oil cooler, connect it to the radiator.
5. Fill with coolant. Fill the radiator and cooling system with new coolant to the required level.
6. Remove any air pockets. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to remove any air pockets. If necessary, add coolant.
7. Check for leaks. Inspect all connections for coolant leaks. If there are leaks, tighten connections or replace gaskets using sealant.
