Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission solenoid valve
* Phillips screwdriver
* Wrench set
* New O-ring for solenoid valve
* Transmission fluid
* Napkins or rags
* Gloves
Replacement procedure:
1. Precautions:
* Make sure the engine is off and the transmission is in park (P).
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Preparation:
* Locate the automatic transmission solenoid valve. It is usually located on the gearbox housing.
* Gather the necessary tools and materials.
3. Draining transmission fluid:
*Locate the transmission drain plug and place a pan under it.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid into the pan.
* Screw the drain plug back.
4. Disconnecting the solenoid valve:
* Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid valve.
*Using a wrench, remove the bolts or screws that secure the solenoid valve to the transmission housing.
* Carefully remove the valve.
5. Installing a new solenoid valve:
* Apply a small amount of new transmission fluid to the O-ring of the new solenoid valve.
*Insert the new valve into the transmission housing and tighten the bolts or screws.
* Connect the electrical connector to the valve.
6. Filling transmission fluid:
* Locate the transmission filler hole and remove the plug.
*Using a funnel, add new transmission fluid to the level specified in the owner’s manual.
* Screw the filler plug back.
7. Test drive:
* Start the engine and switch the gearbox to different modes.
* Make sure that the gears shift smoothly and without any slipping or jerking.
8. Checking the fluid level:
* Warm up the car and drive it for about 15 minutes.
* Place the car on a level surface, turn off the engine and wait a few minutes.
* Measure the transmission fluid level using the dipstick and add it if necessary.
