Tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission solenoid
* Transmission fluid
* Hex key or 10mm socket
*Pliers
* Drain pan
* Funnel
* Rags or paper towels
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent short circuits during operation.
2. Raise the vehicle and secure it. Make sure it is on a level and stable surface.
3. Drain the transmission fluid. Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan and remove it to drain the fluid into the drain pan.
4. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Use a hex wrench or 10mm socket to remove the pan bolts. Carefully remove the pan, draining the remaining liquid.
5. Locate the automatic transmission solenoids. The solenoids are usually located on the hydraulic block inside the automatic transmission housing.
6. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connector. Press the connector latch and pull it up to remove it.
7. Unscrew the solenoid mounting bolts. You may need pliers to unscrew them.
8. Remove the old solenoid. Pull the solenoid up to remove it from the transmission housing.
9. Install a new solenoid. Insert the new solenoid into its seat and tighten the mounting bolts.
10. Connect the solenoid electrical connector. Press the connector until it clicks into place.
11. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan. Insert the pan gasket and tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to ensure an even seal.
12. Fill with transmission fluid. Use a funnel to fill the automatic transmission with as much new fluid as was drained.
13. Check the fluid level. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Use the dipstick to check the fluid level and add if necessary.
14. Connect the negative battery terminal.
15. Drive a car. Drive a few kilometers and check for fluid leaks or abnormal automatic transmission behavior.
