Required tools and materials:
* Set of keys and sockets
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Sealant for automatic transmission
* New crankshaft oil seal
* Oil seal remover (optional)
* Rags
Instructions:
1. Safety first:
* Stop the engine and let it cool.
* Place the vehicle in park and apply the parking brake.
2. Raise the car:
* Jack up the vehicle and place it on stands.
3. Remove the crankcase protection:
* Using a wrench or socket, unscrew the bolts securing the crankcase guard.
* Remove the crankcase protection and place it to the side.
4. Find the crankshaft oil seal:
* The crankshaft seal is located at the rear of the engine where it connects to the automatic transmission.
* Clean the area around the oil seal from dirt and oil.
5. Remove the old oil seal:
*If you have an oil seal puller, use it to remove the old oil seal.
* If you do not have a puller, you can remove the oil seal using a flat blade screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the surface of the crankshaft or transmission housing.
6. Clean the oil seal seat:
* Remove the remains of the old oil seal and clean the seat on the crankshaft and automatic transmission housing with a rag.
7. Apply a new oil seal:
* Apply a thin layer of automatic transmission sealant to the oil seal seat on the crankshaft and automatic transmission housing.
* Install the new oil seal into the seat. Make sure it is installed correctly and facing the correct direction.
8. Install the crankcase protection:
* Reinstall the crankcase guard and tighten the mounting bolts.
9. Lower the car:
* Remove the supports and lower the vehicle to the ground.
10. Check for leaks:
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Check the area under the car for leaks. If necessary, tighten the oil seal bolts.
