Required tools and materials:
* New crankshaft oil seal
* Transmission oil
* Transmission pan gasket
* Sealant for gaskets
* Set of keys
* Jack
* Security racks
*Brake cleaner
Instructions:
1. Preparation
* Place the car on a level surface and secure it with the parking brake.
* Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
* Raise the car on a jack and place it on the safety stands.
2. Draining the oil from the gearbox
* Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan.
* Place a pan under the drain hole to collect the oil.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil.
3. Removing the transmission pan
* Remove the bolts securing the transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the pan, being careful not to spill any remaining oil.
4. Replacing the crankshaft oil seal
* Clean the oil seal seat from dirt and remnants of old sealant.
* Lubricate the outer edge of the new oil seal with transmission oil.
* Install the new oil seal into the seat using a mandrel (if available) or carefully drive it in with a hammer.
5. Installing the transmission pan
* Clean the surface of the pan and the adjacent surface of the gearbox from residual sealant and dirt.
* Apply new sealant to the pan gasket.
* Install the gasket onto the pan and secure it with bolts.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
6. Filling the gearbox with oil
* Using a funnel and hose, pour transmission oil into the gearbox.
*Add the recommended amount of oil specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Install the drain plug and tighten it to the specified tightening torque.
7. Battery connection
* Connect the negative terminal to the battery.
8. Cleaning from contaminants
* Clean all surfaces of oil and sealant using brake cleaner.
9. Checking the oil level
* Check the gearbox oil level on the dipstick using the vehicle on a level surface.
*Add oil if necessary.
Adviсe:
*Use the correct size and shape of crankshaft oil seal.
* Do not overtighten the transmission pan bolts.
* After replacing the oil seal, drive the car for several kilometers and recheck the oil level in the gearbox.
* Check the crankshaft seal regularly for oil leaks to detect problems early.
