Tools and materials:
* Set of socket wrenches
* Pliers
* Flat head screwdriver
* New oil pump bushing
* Oil pump housing gasket
* Transmission fluid
* Rags
Step by step instructions:
1. Preparatory work:
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Remove the automatic transmission oil pan and drain the transmission fluid.
2. Removing the oil pump housing:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the oil pump housing to the automatic transmission housing.
* Carefully remove the oil pump housing along with the gasket.
* Remove the oil pump bushing from the housing.
3. Installing a new bushing:
* Clean the oil pump bushing seat in the housing.
* Apply a small amount of transmission fluid to the new bushing and insert it into the seat.
* Make sure the bushing is completely seated.
4. Installation of oil pump housing:
* Install a new gasket on the oil pump housing.
* Reinstall the oil pump housing and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Install the automatic transmission oil pan and tighten the fastening bolts.
5. Refilling with transmission fluid:
* Pour transmission fluid into the automatic transmission through the filler hole.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick.
6. Final work:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Start the engine and let it idle for 10-15 minutes.
* Shift the gear lever to all positions and back to park mode.
* Check the transmission fluid level again and add it if necessary.
Note:
* When replacing the oil pump bushing of a 5HP19 automatic transmission, it is strongly recommended that you also replace the oil pump housing gasket.
* Make sure all bolts are tightened to the correct torque.
