Required materials:
* New automatic transmission oil filter
* Oil pan gasket
* Transmission fluid (volume depends on model)
* 17 mm socket wrench
* 17mm wrench
* Clean rag
Instructions:
1. Raise the car on a lift or with a jack.
2. Unscrew the transmission oil sump drain plug. Collect the leaking oil in a container with a capacity of at least 4 liters.
3. Remove the oil pan. Remove the bolts holding the pan and carefully separate it from the transmission housing.
4. Replace the automatic transmission oil filter. The location of the filter may vary depending on the vehicle model. It is usually located at the top of the oil pan. Unscrew the filter using a socket wrench and install a new one.
5. Clean the oil pan and gasket. Remove any remaining old oil and gaskets from the pan and around the drain hole.
6. Install a new gasket on the oil pan.
7. Screw the oil pan into place. Tighten the bolts in the sequence specified in the vehicle repair manual.
8. Tighten the drain plug and fill in with new transmission fluid. Use a funnel to avoid spills.
9. Lower the vehicle and check the fluid level. Start the engine and drive it through all gears. Make sure the fluid level is between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the dipstick.
10. Clean the area around the oil pan. Clean up spills and debris.
Additionally:
* Information about the type of transmission fluid and its volume can be found in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Some car models may require resetting the automatic transmission oil change counter after replacing the filter. Follow the instructions in the repair manual.
