Materials:

* New multi-function automatic transmission switch
* Set of wrenches or ratchets
* Flat head screwdriver

Steps:

1. Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to disconnect power from the vehicle.
2. Remove the gear shift knob. Pull the shift knob up to remove it.
3. Remove the center console trim. There will be decorative trim around the automatic transmission switch. It is usually secured with latches. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the gap and carefully pry the trim until it comes free.
4. Disconnect the switch electrical connector. Locate the electrical connector connected to the transmission switch. Push the connector latch and pull it to disconnect it.
5. Unscrew the switch mounting bolts. Typically, the automatic transmission switch is secured with two bolts. Use a wrench or ratchet to unscrew them.
6. Remove the old automatic transmission switch. After the bolts are unscrewed, carefully pull the automatic transmission switch up and remove it from the housing.
7. Install a new automatic transmission switch. Align the new transmission shifter with the housing and carefully push it into place.
8. Tighten the mounting bolts. Tighten the automatic transmission switch mounting bolts using a wrench or ratchet.
9. Connect the electrical connector. Find the electrical connector and connect it to the automatic transmission switch by pressing the connector lock.
10. Install the center console trim. Reinstall the trim around the shifter by snapping it into place.
11. Install the gear shift knob. Place the shift knob back into place by pressing down.
12. Connect the battery. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery to restore power to the vehicle.
