Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission filter (part number: MR472732)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket (part number: MD792046)
* 10 mm socket wrench
* 17mm wrench
* Flat head screwdriver
* Container for draining liquid
* Gloves

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Allow the engine to cool.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level and, if necessary, top up to the required level.

2. Draining the automatic transmission fluid:

* Place the container under the automatic transmission pan.
* Loosen the pan drain plug with a 17mm wrench.
* Completely remove the plug and drain the automatic transmission fluid into a container.
* When the liquid stops draining, tighten the drain plug.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:

* Unscrew the automatic transmission pan bolts with a 10 mm socket wrench.
* Carefully remove the automatic transmission pan. Be careful with residual automatic transmission fluid.
* Disconnect the torque converter lock-up solenoid electrical connector.

4. Replacing the automatic transmission filter:

* Remove the old automatic transmission filter from the pan.
* Install a new automatic transmission filter into the pan. Make sure the filter is installed correctly.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan:

* Apply a new automatic transmission pan gasket to the pan.
* Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts by hand.
* Tighten the bolts with a 10 mm socket wrench to the torque specified in the repair manual.
* Connect the torque converter lock-up solenoid electrical connector.

6. Filling with automatic transmission fluid:

* Open the hood and find the automatic transmission filler plug.
* Unscrew the filler plug and fill the automatic transmission with the same amount of fluid as was drained.
* Tighten the filler plug.

7. Checking the automatic transmission fluid level:

* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Move the gear shift lever to each position and return it back to the park position.
* Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the automatic transmission fluid to drain.
* Remove the automatic transmission fluid dipstick, wipe it and reinsert it. Remove the dipstick and check the fluid level. The level should be between the “cold” and “hot” marks.
* If the automatic transmission fluid level is low, add fluid and check again.

8. Resetting the automatic transmission fluid replacement counter (if equipped):

*Refer to your repair manual for instructions on resetting the automatic transmission fluid change counter (if applicable).
