Required tools:
* Hex key set
* Set of socket wrenches
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Wheel bolt wrench
* Jack and stands
* Grease for CV joints
Procedure:
1. Prepare the car. Place the car on a level surface, apply the parking brake and put it in gear (for models with automatic transmission).
2. Remove the wheel. Loosen the wheel bolts, jack up the car and remove the wheel.
3. Disconnect the ball joint. Hold the ball joint with a flat blade screwdriver and remove the ball joint nut. Then remove the bolt and disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
4. Remove the drive shaft. Insert a hex wrench into the hole near the outer CV joint and hold it to loosen the shaft. Then pull the shaft to remove it from the hub.
5. Remove the CV joint boot. Using a flathead screwdriver, pry up and remove the CV joint boot.
6. Remove the remaining ring. Insert the socket wrench into the groove of the inner ring and remove it.
7. Remove the inner CV joint. Pull the inner CV joint to remove it from the drive shaft.
8. Clean the drive shaft. Clean the drive shaft of old grease and dirt.
9. Apply lubricant to the new inner CV joint. Apply a sufficient amount of lubricant to the new CV joint.
10. Install the inner CV joint. Insert the new CV joint onto the drive shaft and push it into place until it clicks.
11. Install the standing ring. Install the retaining ring into the groove on the drive shaft.
12. Install the CV joint boot. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the inner surface of the boot and secure it to the CV joint.
13. Install the drive shaft. Insert the drive shaft into the hub and tighten the nut.
14. Connect the ball joint. Place the ball joint onto the steering knuckle and tighten the nut.
15. Install the wheel. Reinstall the wheel and tighten the bolts.
16. Lower the car. Slowly lower the car from the jack.
17. Tighten the wheel bolts. Fully tighten the wheel bolts.
After replacing the inner CV joint, it is important to drive a few kilometers and check for noise or vibration while driving.
