Required tools and materials:
* New inner CV joints (left and right)
* Hex key set
* Set of spanners
* Wrench for axle nuts
* Screwdriver
* Extension cord
* Hammer
* CV joint lubrication
Replacement instructions:
1. Raising the vehicle: Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it with jacks.
2. Wheel Removal: Remove the front wheel from the side where you will be replacing it.
3. Remove the axle nut: Locate the axle nut that connects the axle shaft to the wheel. Use the axle nut wrench to remove the nut.
4. Disconnecting the tie rod: Locate the tie rod that connects the steering wheel to the wheel. Use a hex wrench to remove the mounting bolt. Move the steering rod to the side.
5. Removing the brake caliper: Remove the bolts that secure the brake caliper to the steering knuckle. Remove the caliper and hang it on a wire so as not to damage the brake hose.
6. Disconnecting the stabilizer link: Locate the stabilizer link that connects the stabilizer bar to the steering knuckle. Use a screwdriver to dislodge the mounting pin. Disconnect the stand.
7. Extending the axle shaft: Insert the extension into the axle nut and unscrew it. Carefully remove the axle shaft from the transmission.
8. Removing the inner CV joint: Insert a screwdriver between the inner CV joint and the axle shaft. Gently tap the screwdriver with a hammer to release the CV joint. Remove the CV joint from the axle shaft.
9. Lubricate the new CV joint: Apply CV joint grease to the splines of the new CV joint and to the inside of the axle shaft.
10. Installing a new CV joint: Place the new CV joint onto the axle shaft and insert a screwdriver between the CV joint and the axle shaft. Gently tap the screwdriver with a hammer to set the CV joint in place.
11. Installing the axle shaft: Insert the axle shaft back into the transmission. Tighten the axle nut with a wrench.
12. Connecting the stabilizer link: Install the stabilizer link and secure it with a pin.
13. Installing the brake caliper: Install the brake caliper onto the steering knuckle and tighten the mounting bolts.
14. Connecting the steering rod: Connect the steering rod to the wheel and tighten the mounting bolt.
15. Wheel Installation: Reinstall the wheel and tighten the nuts.
16. Lowering the vehicle: Lower the vehicle from the jacks.
17. Bleeding the Brake System: Bleed the brake system to remove any air that may have entered during brake caliper removal.
Adviсe:
* Replace both inner CV joints at the same time, even if only one is faulty.
* Be careful not to damage the CV joint boots when removing and installing them.
* Use CV joint lubricant recommended by the manufacturer.
*If you are unsure of your skills, have your inner CV joint replaced by a qualified mechanic.
