Tools and materials:
* 32mm wrench
* Inner CV Joint Puller
* Mount
* New internal CV joints
* Grease for CV joints
* Cleaning brush
*Clean cloth
Replacement procedure:
1. Preparation:
* Set the vehicle to the parking brake and chock the rear wheels.
* Loosen the front wheel mounting bolts on the side where the CV joint needs to be replaced.
2. Removing the wheel and hub:
* Remove the front wheel.
* Unscrew the hub mounting bolt (use a 32 mm wrench).
* Remove the hub.
3. Removing the drive shaft:
* Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle (use a ball joint remover).
* Remove the drive shaft from the hub (use a pry bar).
* Pull the drive shaft out of the gearbox.
4. Removing the inner CV joint:
* Clean dirt and rust around the inner CV joint.
* Insert the inner CV joint puller between the shaft and the CV joint.
* Tighten the puller and remove the CV joint from the shaft.
5. Installing a new inner CV joint:
* Clean the shaft and inner CV joint from old grease.
* Apply new grease to the shaft and CV joint.
* Install the new CV joint onto the shaft (use a puller to press it in).
6. Assembly:
* Install the drive shaft into the gearbox and hub.
* Attach the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
* Install the hub and tighten the mounting bolt.
7. Wheel installation:
* Install the wheel and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel bolts completely.
8. Check:
* Check the lubricant level in the gearbox and add if necessary.
* Check that all connections are secure.
* Check the operation of the CV joint by driving the car several kilometers and making several turns.
