Tools and materials:
* Set of wrenches or ratchets
* Pliers
* Inner CV Joint Puller
* New inner CV joint
* Grease for CV joints
* Thread sealant
Steps:
1. Prepare the vehicle: Set the vehicle to the parking brake and secure it with wheel chocks. Loosen the wheel nuts on the side of the CV joint being replaced.
2. Remove the wheel: Completely remove the wheel nuts and separate the wheel from the hub.
3. Remove the drive shaft: Unscrew the bolt securing the drive shaft to the hub. Use a CV joint puller to remove the inner CV joint from the transmission. Then pull the drive shaft out of the hub.
4. Remove the CV joint from the drive shaft: Position the drive shaft vertically and tap the inner CV joint from above with a hammer to release it from the shaft.
5. Lubricate the new CV joint: Apply CV joint grease to the shaft and inside of the new CV joint.
6. Install the CV joint on the drive shaft: Place the new CV joint on the shaft and drive it into place using a hammer or press.
7. Tighten the clamp: Tighten the CV clamp using pliers or a wrench.
8. Install the drive shaft: Insert the drive shaft into the transmission and secure it with the bolt. Torque the bolt to specification.
9. Install the wheel: Attach the wheel to the hub and tighten the nuts. Lower the car onto its wheels.
10. Tighten the wheel nuts: Using a torque wrench, tighten the wheel nuts to the recommended torque.
11. Check the transmission fluid level (automatic transmission): If the drive shaft was removed from the transmission, check the transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.
Adviсe:
* Use a high-quality CV joint from a reliable manufacturer.
*Lubricate the CV joint thoroughly to extend its life.
* Tighten bolts and nuts to the recommended torque to ensure proper operation.
*If you are unsure, consult a qualified mechanic.
