Required tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission flow filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Drain plug O-ring
* Transmission fluid
* Funnel
* Set of wrenches and screwdrivers
* Jack
* Stands

Instructions:

1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface. Make sure the transmission is in park (P). Place the car on a jack and place stands under it for safety.

2. Drain the transmission fluid: Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan. Unscrew the plug using a wrench. Allow the liquid to drain into the pan.

3. Remove the automatic transmission pan: Using a screwdriver, unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan. Carefully separate the pan from the transmission housing. Be careful as transmission fluid may remain in the pan.

4. Replace the filter and gasket: Remove the old in-line filter from the pan. Install the new filter in its place. Using a new gasket, screw the pan back onto the transmission housing. Tighten the bolts by hand and then finally tighten them with a wrench.

5. Fill with new transmission fluid: Locate the fill plug on the side of the transmission. Insert a funnel into the filler plug and add new transmission fluid according to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.

6. Install the drain plug: Install a new O-ring onto the drain plug and screw it back into place. Tighten the plug using a wrench.

7. Lower the vehicle: Lower the vehicle from the stands.

8. Check the transmission fluid level: Using the dipstick, check the transmission fluid level. If necessary, add fluid to the required level.

9. Check for leaks: Start the car and shift the transmission into different modes. Check under the car for transmission leaks.
