Materials required to replace the engine cooling radiator with automatic transmission:
* New engine cooling radiator
* New radiator gaskets (upper and lower)
* New antifreeze (corresponding to vehicle manufacturer specifications)
* Drain hose
* Container for draining liquid
* Keys or screwdrivers (depending on the design of the car)
* Wheel chocks
* Jack
* Car stands
Steps to replace the radiator for an automatic transmission engine:
1. Preparation:
* Put the car on the parking brake.
* Install wheel chocks at the rear wheels.
* Allow the engine to cool.
2. Disconnecting the battery:
* To prevent short circuit, disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
3. Draining the coolant:
* Install the fluid drain hose into the radiator drain hole.
* Open the drain valve at the bottom of the radiator to drain the coolant into the drain container.
* Replace the drain valve.
4. Disconnecting hoses:
* Loosen the clamps on the hoses that are connected to the radiator.
* Disconnect the hoses from the radiator.
* Cap open radiator tubes and hoses to prevent coolant leakage.
5. Removing the top fastening:
* Remove the top fasteners that hold the radiator in place. This may include bolts or latches, depending on the design of the vehicle.
6. Raising the radiator:
* Lift the radiator straight up to release it from the lower mountings.
7. Installing a new radiator:
* Place the new radiator in place.
* Connect it to the lower mounts.
* Lower the radiator and secure it with the upper fasteners.
8. Connecting hoses:
* Connect the hoses to the radiator and tighten the clamps.
9. Filling coolant:
*Pour new antifreeze into the radiator and fill it to the correct level.
* Install the radiator cap.
10. Air removal:
* Start the engine and let it run until it warms up.
* Turn the heater to maximum to expel air from the cooling system.
* Check the coolant level and add if necessary.
11. Check for leaks:
* Inspect the radiator, hoses and connections for leaks.
* If leaks are found, tighten connections or replace damaged parts.
12. Battery connection:
* Reconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
13. Test drive:
*Take a short test drive to check the cooling system is working and there are no leaks.
