Materials and tools:
* New differential bearing (part number for 09G: 09G 525 391 A)
* Differential oil seal (part number for 09G: 09G 525 317 C)
* Bearing puller
*Ratchet keys
* Impact screwdriver with Torx T30 head
* Transmission sealant
* Cleaning liquid
Replacement procedure:
1. Remove the automatic transmission. To do this, follow the service manual for your specific vehicle.
2. Remove the differential bolts. Use a ratchet wrench to remove the 10 bolts securing the differential to the transmission housing.
3. Remove the differential. While supporting the differential, tap the housing with a Torx T30 impact driver. Pull the differential towards you to release it from the housing.
4. Remove the differential bearing. Use a bearing puller to carefully remove the bearing from the differential output shaft.
5. Clean the bearing seating surface. Use cleaning fluid to clean the bearing seating surface on the differential output shaft.
6. Install a new differential seal. Apply a thin coat of transmission sealant to the outer seal ring and install it into place in the differential.
7. Install a new differential bearing. Apply a small amount of transmission sealant to the inner race of the new bearing and install it to the differential output shaft.
8. Reinstall the differential. Place the differential in place in the transmission housing and tighten the 10 differential mounting bolts using a ratchet wrench.
9. Reinstall the automatic transmission. Follow the steps in reverse order to reinstall the automatic transmission.
