Required tools and materials:

* Transmission repair tool kit
* New torque converter clutch
* O-ring for coupling
* Solvent for degreasing
* New transmission fluid
* Transmission oil filter

Procedure:

1. Remove the transmission:

* Disconnect the battery.
* Drain the transmission fluid.
* Disconnect the shift cable and wiring from the transmission.
* Remove the bolts securing the transmission to the engine and mounts.
* Carefully remove the transmission and set it aside.

2. Disassemble the torque converter:

*Locate the bolts that hold the two halves of the torque converter together.
* Unscrew the bolts and carefully remove both halves.

3. Remove the old coupling:

* The torque converter clutch is located on the front side of the torque converter housing.
* Remove the clamps or bolts holding the coupling in place.
* Carefully remove the coupling.

4. Clean the mounting surfaces:

* Clean the seating surfaces on the torque converter housing and new clutch of old sealant and dirt using a degreasing solvent.

5. Install a new coupling:

* Apply a thin layer of transmission fluid or sealant to the torque converter housing seating surface.
* Place the new coupling in place and secure it with clamps or bolts.
* Make sure the coupling is installed in the correct position.

6. Assemble the torque converter:

* Align both halves of the torque converter and install the bolts.
* Tighten the bolts alternately to the specified torque.

7. Install the torque converter:

* Install the torque converter onto the transmission input shaft and secure it with bolts.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

8. Install the transmission:

* Carefully lift the transmission into place and secure it with the bolts.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
* Connect the shift cable and wiring to the transmission.

9. Fill with transmission fluid:

* Fill in transmission fluid through the dipstick or filler neck.
* Bring the fluid level to the “Full” mark on the dipstick.
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.

10. Replace the transmission oil filter:

* Locate and unscrew the transmission oil filter cap.
*Remove the old filter and install a new one.
* Tighten the filter cap to the specified torque.

11. Check operation:

* Check the operation of the transmission by changing gears.
* Make sure there are no leaks or abnormal noise.
