Required tools and materials:

*Socket set
* Set of keys
* Pliers
* Flat head screwdriver
* Hammer
* Punch
* Oil seal remover
* New automatic transmission oil seal
* Transmission fluid
* Gloves
* Brake cleaner

Steps to replace an automatic transmission oil seal on an Audi A6 C5 Quattro:

1. Security measures:

* Apply the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Removing the transmission pan:

* Place a tray under the car under the transmission.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the pan and drain the remaining transmission fluid.

3. Removing the old oil seal:

* Locate the input shaft shank near the oil pump.
*Use a flathead screwdriver or a punch to pry the old oil seal out of its seat.
* Clean the oil seal seat with a rag and brake cleaner.

4. Installing a new oil seal:

* Apply a small amount of transmission fluid to the outside of the new oil seal.
* Carefully press the new oil seal into the seat using an oil seal puller or suitable tool.
* Make sure the oil seal is fully seated and extends beyond the outer ring.

5. Installing the transmission pan:

* Clean the surface of the pan and the mating surface of the transmission.
* Apply sealant to the surface of the pan gasket.
* Reinstall the pan and carefully tighten the bolts.

6. Filling with transmission fluid:

* Refill the transmission with new oil according to the recommended amount.
* Start the engine and change all gears to bleed the system.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.

7. Resetting the transmission service counter:

* Connect the OBD2 scanner to the diagnostic port.
*Follow the scanner instructions to reset the transmission service counter.

8. Completion of work:

* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Remove the pan and check for leaks.
*If there are no leaks, complete the installation and drive the car to ensure there are no shifting problems.
