Materials:
* New automatic transmission oil filter (part number: W7A421)
* Automatic transmission oil pan gasket (part number: 1L5P-7A482-B)
* Automatic transmission oil (Ford Mercon LV recommended)
* Funnel
* 10 mm wrench
* 8mm wrench
Tools:
* Jack and stands for the car
* Set of open end wrenches or socket heads
Steps:
1. Raise the car and place it on stands. Make sure the vehicle is securely secured.
2. Determine the location of the automatic transmission oil pan. It is usually located at the bottom of the transmission and has a drain plug.
3. Place an oil pan under the drain plug.
4. Unscrew the drain plug of the automatic transmission oil pan drain bolt using a 10 mm wrench. Be careful as the oil is hot and may leak.
5. Allow the oil to drain completely into the collection pan. This may take a few minutes.
6. Clean the drain plug and replace the O-ring.
7. Install a new automatic transmission oil pan gasket. Make sure it is positioned correctly.
8. Attach the automatic transmission oil pan to the gearbox and tighten the bolts using an 8 mm wrench.
9. Unscrew the top cover of the automatic transmission oil filter using a 10 mm wrench.
10. Remove the old oil filter. Be careful as there may be some oil in it.
11. Insert a new oil filter. Make sure it is tightened correctly.
12. Install the upper cover of the automatic transmission oil filter and tighten the bolts using a 10 mm wrench.
13. Fill the automatic transmission with new oil using a funnel. Fill with the required amount of oil as indicated in your vehicle’s service manual.
14. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it idle. Move the gear selector to each position and return to Park.
15. Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
16. Reset the automatic transmission adaptation code. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific instructions on resetting the code.
