Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission fluid (3-4 liters)
* Oil pan
* Brush with metal bristles
* Rags
* Funnel
* Keys or screwdrivers for removing the automatic transmission pan
Instructions:
1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. This will help thin the oil in the gearbox.
2. Stop the engine and put the car on the parking brake.
3. Raise the front of the car on jacks. Place lift supports under the vehicle frame for support.
4. Clean the automatic transmission oil pan with a wire brush. Remove all dirt and debris from around the pan.
5. Place a container under the oil pan to drain the oil.
6. Loosen the automatic transmission pan drain plug. Allow the liquid to drain into the container.
7. When the fluid stops draining, remove the bolts and disconnect the automatic transmission oil pan. Be careful as there may be oil left at the bottom of the pan.
8. Remove the old automatic transmission filter and clean the surface where it was installed.
9. Install the new automatic transmission filter in place. Make sure it is installed correctly and tighten the mounting bolts.
10. Clean the oil pan with a rag and install a new gasket.
11. Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the mounting bolts.
12. Add fresh automatic transmission oil to the funnel at the top of the transmission. Add about 3-4 liters of liquid.
13. Start the engine and run the transmission through all gears at idle speed.
14. Check the automatic transmission oil level on the dipstick and, if necessary, add more fluid.
15. Lower the car from the jacks and make sure there are no leaks.
Notes:
* Make sure that the automatic transmission fluid you use matches the type recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
* When filling with liquid, fill gradually and check the level on the dipstick to avoid overfilling.
* If you are not confident in your abilities, it is recommended that you contact a mechanic to replace the automatic transmission filter.
