Materials:
* New automatic transmission filter (original or compatible)
* Automatic transmission oil pan gasket
* Automatic transmission oil pan plug
* Automatic transmission fluid (type and volume in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations)
Tools:
* Wrench set
* Hex key
* Container for draining liquid
* Funnel
* Gloves
Warning:
* Let the engine cool down before starting work.
*Work on a flat, hard surface.
Procedure:
1. Preparing the car
* Set the car to the parking brake.
* Raise the front of the car using jacks or a lift.
2. Draining the automatic transmission fluid
* Locate the automatic transmission oil pan located under the transmission.
* Place the container under the tray.
* Loosen the pan drain plug with a wrench.
* Drain the automatic transmission fluid into a container.
3. Removing the automatic transmission oil pan
* Clean the area around the tray.
* Unscrew the pallet mounting bolts with a wrench.
* Remove the pan and remove the old gasket.
4. Replacing the automatic transmission filter
*Locate the old filter attached to the tray.
* Remove it by pulling it up.
* Install the new filter onto the pan.
5. Cleaning the automatic transmission pan
* Remove any remaining automatic transmission fluid or metal filings from the pan and magnets.
6. Installing the automatic transmission pan
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
* Screw the pan to the gearbox with bolts.
7. Replacing the automatic transmission oil pan plug
* Replace the oil pan plug with a new one.
* Tighten the plug with a wrench.
8. Filling automatic transmission fluid
* Locate the automatic transmission filler hole, usually located on the side of the transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler hole.
* Fill in the required amount of automatic transmission fluid.
9. Checking the automatic transmission fluid level
* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Move the gear shift lever to Park (P) position.
* Pull out the automatic transmission fluid dipstick and check the level.
*Add fluid if necessary.
10. Resetting the automatic transmission fluid replacement counter
* Some Nissan Teana J32 models are equipped with an automatic transmission fluid replacement counter. It must be reset after changing the fluid.
* Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the procedure to reset the meter.
11. Lowering the car
* Lower the vehicle from jacks or a lift.
* Check for automatic transmission fluid leaks.
Additionally:
* It is also recommended to replace the automatic transmission filler plug gasket.
* After changing the automatic transmission fluid, you should drive several kilometers so that the fluid gets into all automatic transmission components.
* Regularly check the automatic transmission fluid level and change it in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
