Procedure for replacing the Kia Rio 4 automatic transmission filter:

1. Warm up the engine and automatic transmission: Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to warm up the transmission fluid.
2. Raise the vehicle: Place the vehicle on lifts or use jacks to raise it. Make sure the car is securely parked.
3. Locate the automatic transmission pan: Locate the automatic transmission pan located at the bottom of the transmission.
4. Drain the transmission fluid: Place a drain pan under the drain hole in the transmission pan. Unscrew the drain plug and drain the transmission fluid into the pan.
5. Remove the automatic transmission pan: Unscrew the bolts holding the automatic transmission pan and carefully remove it.
6. Remove the old automatic transmission filter: Locate the old automatic transmission filter inside the pan. It is attached either with bolts or snaps. Unscrew or disconnect the bolts/latches and remove the old filter.
7. Install a new automatic transmission filter: Insert the new automatic transmission filter in place of the old one. Make sure it is installed correctly and securely.
8. Install a new gasket for the automatic transmission pan: Remove the old gasket from the automatic transmission pan and install a new one.
9. Install the automatic transmission pan: Install the automatic transmission pan in place and tighten the bolts holding it.
10. Tighten the drain plug: Insert a new washer into the drain plug and tighten it.
11. Fill with new transmission fluid: Using a funnel, pour fresh transmission fluid into the automatic transmission. Fill in as much liquid as was previously drained.
12. Check the fluid level: Start the engine and shift through all gears. Check the fluid level using the automatic transmission dipstick. Add liquid if necessary.
13. Clean up the engine compartment: Clean up any spills and reinstall all caps and plugs.
14. Reset the automatic transmission maintenance counter: Using an OBD-II scanner, reset the automatic transmission maintenance counter.

Note:

* Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for exact instructions on changing the automatic transmission filter.
* Use a high quality automatic transmission filter and transmission fluid.
