Required tools and materials:

* Set of keys (open-end, box, socket)
* Flat blade screwdriver
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission fluid
* Metal cleaning brush
* Magnetic drain pan

Work order:

1. Gather the necessary tools and materials.
2. Raise the car on a lift or using a jack and stands.
3. Remove the engine protection (if equipped).
4. Drain the automatic transmission fluid. To do this, place a magnetic pan under the automatic transmission pan and unscrew the drain plug (usually it is located in front of the automatic transmission pan). Let the liquid drain completely.
5. Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan. Usually these are 10-12 bolts located around the perimeter of the pallet. Carefully remove the pan from the transmission.
6. Clean the pan and the surface of the gearbox from the old gasket and fluid residues.
7. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket.
8. Assemble the automatic transmission pan. Reinstall it and tighten the bolts crosswise. The bolt tightening torque is specified in the repair manual for the specific vehicle model.
9. Replace solenoids. Solenoids are usually located on the automatic transmission pan or on the transmission itself. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connectors and remove the solenoids using the appropriate wrench. Lubricate the new solenoids with transmission fluid and install them in place. Connect the electrical connectors.
10. Fill the automatic transmission with transmission fluid. Use a watering can with a long, thin spout to pour fluid through the transmission dipstick. The volume of fluid that needs to be filled is indicated in the repair manual for the specific car model.
11. Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission. Start the engine and warm up the transmission to operating temperature. Then place the car on a flat surface, engage the parking brake and shift the automatic transmission selector through all gears, holding each one for a few seconds.
12. Check the fluid level using the automatic transmission dipstick. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth. Insert it back into the transmission and remove it again. The fluid level should be between the “Min” and “Max” marks. Add fluid if necessary.
13. Reinstall the engine protection (if removed).
14. Lower the vehicle to the ground.

Adviсe:

* Replace solenoids as a set as they work together.
*Use the transmission fluid recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
* Drained automatic transmission fluid may be dark brown or black in color, which indicates the need to replace it.
*If you are unsure of your skills, consult an experienced mechanic.
