Replacing automatic transmission oil seals Grand Vitara

Required tools and materials:

* Screwdriver set
* Wrench set
* Drain pan
* Automatic transmission oil filter
* Automatic transmission oil seals (front and rear)
* Automatic transmission fluid

Instructions:

1. Preparation

* Jack up the vehicle and place it on stands.
* Relieve pressure in the automatic transmission system by disconnecting the oil return hose from the radiator.

2. Draining transmission fluid

* Install the oil pan under the automatic transmission.
* Unscrew the automatic transmission drain plug and drain the fluid.
*Remove the oil pan and remove the old oil filter.

3. Replacing the front oil seal

* Locate the front oil seal in the automatic transmission pump housing.
* Carefully pry up the old oil seal with a screwdriver and remove it.
* Clean the oil seal seat of old sealant and debris.
* Apply sealant to the new oil seal and install it in the seat.
* Reinstall the oil pan with a new filter.

4. Replacing the rear oil seal

* Locate the rear oil seal on the automatic transmission input shaft.
* Using a special puller or a screwdriver with a curved end, remove the old oil seal.
* Prepare the seat by clearing it of sealant and debris.
* Apply sealant to the new oil seal and install it in place.
* Secure the rear cover of the automatic transmission.

5. Completion

* Reinstall the oil return hose from the radiator.
* Fill the automatic transmission with new transmission fluid to the level.
* Start the engine and change gears to circulate fluid through the system.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.

Adviсe:

* Use original oil seals or high-quality analogues.
* Clean the seal seats thoroughly to ensure a good seal.
* Apply sealant using a special gun or brush.
* Check all gaskets and seals for leaks.
* At the end of the work, be sure to check the transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.
