Replacing automatic transmission drive seals AL4
Required tools and materials:
* Set of socket wrenches
* Hammer
* Flat head screwdriver
* New drive seals
* Transmission fluid
* Rags
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
* Put the car on the parking brake and install wheel chocks.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Loosen the wheel bolts.
2. Removing drives:
* Raise the car on a jack or lift.
* Remove the wheels.
* Unscrew the nuts securing the ball joints.
* Move the steering knuckles to the sides and remove the drives from the gearbox.
3. Removing the seals:
*Using a flathead screwdriver, carefully pry and remove the old oil seal from the drive shaft.
4. Installation of new oil seals:
* Lubricate the working surface of the new oil seal with transmission fluid.
* Carefully install the new oil seal onto the drive shaft.
* Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly and is fully seated.
5. Installation of drives:
* Insert the drives into the gearbox and secure them with the ball joint nuts.
*Tighten the nuts to the required torque.
6. Assembly:
* Install the wheels and tighten the wheel bolts.
* Lower the vehicle to the ground.
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
7. Checking the transmission fluid level:
* Check the transmission fluid level and add it if necessary.
* To check the level, start the engine and warm up the car to operating temperature.
* Place the transmission in Park (P) or Neutral (N).
* Remove the transmission fluid dipstick and check the level. It should be between the “Min” and “Max” marks.
8. Test run:
* Drive the vehicle for a short time to check for transmission fluid leaks and proper transmission operation.
