Tools and materials:
* Wrench set
* Jack and supports
* Automatic transmission oil
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission filter (optional)
* New automatic transmission seals
1. Preparation:
* Place the vehicle in park and apply the parking brake.
* Raise the front of the car using a jack and install supports.
2. Draining the oil from the automatic transmission:
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan.
* Loosen and remove the drain plug.
* Drain the oil into a suitable container.
3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:
* Clean the automatic transmission pan mounting bolts from dirt.
* Loosen and remove the bolts.
* Carefully lower the automatic transmission pan.
4. Replacing the pan gasket:
* Remove the old gasket from the pan and the surface of the automatic transmission.
* Clean the mating surfaces.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
5. Replacing oil seals:
* Locate and identify seals that need to be replaced.
* Be careful not to damage the seals when removing them.
* Install new oil seals using the appropriate tool (eg oil seal driver).
6. Installing the automatic transmission pan:
* Lift and reinstall the automatic transmission pan.
* Tighten the pan mounting bolts.
* Replace the drain plug and pour new oil into the automatic transmission.
7. Replacing the automatic transmission filter (optional):
* Disconnect the oil supply hose to the automatic transmission filter.
*Remove the old filter and install a new one.
* Connect the oil supply hose.
8. Completion:
* Lower the car and check the oil level in the automatic transmission.
* Clean the work area of any remaining oil.
* Start the car and check the gear shift.
