Tools and materials:
* Set of socket wrenches
* Torque wrench
* Hammer and punch
* Pliers
* Spatula
* New transmission fluid
* New drive shaft seals
* New seals for selector shaft
* Oil pan gasket
Warning:
* Allow the transmission to cool before starting work.
*Transmission fluid may be hot and may cause burns.
* Drain transmission fluid into a proper container.
* Work in a well-ventilated area as transmission fluid is harmful to health.
Replacement procedure:
1. Draining transmission fluid:
* Locate the transmission drain plug on the oil pan.
* Place a drain pan under the plug.
* Carefully unscrew the drain plug.
* Allow the liquid to drain completely.
2. Removing the oil pan:
* Locate the oil pan bolts.
* Unscrew the bolts with a socket wrench.
* Carefully separate the oil pan from the transmission housing.
* Remove the old oil pan gasket.
3. Replacing drive shaft seals:
* Identify the drive shaft seals. They are located at the end of the drive shaft shafts.
* Use a flat putty knife to carefully pry up and remove the old seals.
* Clean the installation area from dirt and debris.
* Lubricate the new oil seal gasket with transmission fluid.
* Insert the new oil seal into the socket.
*Use a hammer and punch to carefully press the oil seal into place.
4. Replacing selector shaft seals:
* Identify selector shaft seals. They are located on the transmission housing at the entry point of the gear lever.
* Use pliers to remove the old seal from the selector shaft.
* Clean the installation area from dirt and debris.
* Lubricate the new oil seal with transmission fluid.
* Place a new oil seal on the selector shaft.
* Use pliers or a hammer and a punch to carefully press the oil seal into place.
5. Installing the oil pan:
* Install a new gasket on the oil pan.
* Carefully attach the oil pan to the transmission housing.
*Tighten the oil pan bolts with a torque wrench to specifications.
6. Filling with transmission fluid:
* Locate the transmission filler plug.
*Add the correct amount of new transmission fluid.
* Install the filler plug.
7. Checking the transmission fluid level:
* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Shift all gears and return to Park or Neutral.
* Check the fluid level on the dipstick.
*Add liquid if necessary.
8. Reset your computer:
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
*Wait 5 minutes.
* Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
9. Test drive:
*Take a test drive and make sure there is no fluid leaking from the transmission.
* Check if the transmission is working properly.
