Materials:

* New automatic transmission oil seal
* Transmission fluid
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant
* Keys and heads for removing the automatic transmission pan

Tools:

* Lift or jack with supports
* Pliers
* Screwdriver

Steps:

1. Preparing the car

* Raise the car on a lift or place it on stands.
* Disconnect the “-” terminal from the battery.

2. Draining transmission fluid

* Find the automatic transmission pan drain plug.
* Place a container under the plug to catch the liquid.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan

* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the pan, being careful not to damage the gasket.
* Clean the pan of old gasket and dirt.

4. Replacing the automatic transmission oil seal

* Locate the automatic transmission oil seal that needs to be replaced.
* Carefully remove the old oil seal using pliers.
* Lubricate the new oil seal and install it in place.
* Make sure the oil seal is seated correctly and not damaged.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan

* Apply new sealant to the joint between the pan and the transmission.
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
* Attach the pan back to the transmission and tighten the bolts.

6. Filling transmission fluid

* Pour fresh transmission fluid into the automatic transmission through the dipstick hole.
* Fill in the required amount of fluid specified in the vehicle’s operating manual.

7. Checking the fluid level

* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and return to park mode.
* Check the fluid level using the dipstick. The level should be between the “min” and “max” marks.

8. Resetting the automatic transmission fluid aging counter (optional)

* If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission fluid aging counter, it must be reset after changing the fluid.
* To do this, follow the instructions provided in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.

9. Battery terminal connection

* Connect the “-” terminal to the battery.

10. Leak test

* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Check the automatic transmission pan and drain plug for leaks.
* If leaks are found, tighten bolts or replace damaged components.

Adviсe:

* Use only original or high quality spare parts.
*Tighten bolts to recommended torque.
* Drain the automatic transmission fluid while it is hot for better fluidity.
* Check the condition of the automatic transmission oil filter and replace it if necessary.
