Steps to replace the automatic transmission on an American Mazda 626:

Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission
* Transmission fluid
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant for automatic transmission pan
* Jack and stands
* Set of wrenches and screwdrivers
* Shoulder for unscrewing bolts
* Pliers

Precautions:

* Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is set.
* Cool the engine and transmission.
* Disconnect the battery to prevent short circuit.

Instructions:

1. Raise the car:

* Place jacks under the front jacking points and raise the vehicle high enough to work underneath.
* Place stands under jacks for added safety.

2. Drain the transmission fluid:

* Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the automatic transmission pan.
* Place a container under the plug to catch the liquid.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the liquid.

3. Remove the automatic transmission pan:

* Using a wrench, unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan to the box body.
* Carefully remove the pan and gasket.

4. Replace the automatic transmission filter:

* Find and remove the old automatic transmission filter.
* Insert the new filter into the automatic transmission housing.

5. Install a new automatic transmission pan:

* Apply automatic transmission pan sealant to the gasket and install it on the pan.
* Screw the pallet to the body of the box.

6. Install a new automatic transmission:

* Carefully lift the new automatic transmission into place.
* Align the bolt holes on the automatic transmission and engine.
* Screw in the bolts and tighten them using the loosening arm.

7. Connect the drive shafts:

* Install the drive shafts in the automatic transmission.
* Tighten the bolts securing the shafts to the automatic transmission flange.

8. Connect the wire harnesses and tubes:

* Connect all wiring harnesses and tubes to the automatic transmission.

9. Fill with transmission fluid:

*Fill the filler hole with transmission fluid according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
* Install the dipstick and check the fluid level.

10. Lower the car:

* Lower the vehicle from the stands.

11. Reset transmission adaptation:

* Disconnect and reconnect the battery.
* Start the car and warm up the transmission.
* Drive the vehicle in various modes to reset the transmission adaptation.
