Tools and materials:

* New drive seals
* Wrench set
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Transmission sealant
* Rags

Instructions:

1. Preparation

* Park the vehicle on a level surface and secure it with the parking brake.
* Disconnect the battery.

2. Wheel removal

* Using a wrench, loosen the wheel bolts on the side of the oil seal being replaced.
* Raise the car and remove the wheel.

3. Removing the axle shaft

* Clean the lower suspension arm mounting bolts from any dirt.
* Unscrew the drive nut and disconnect the drive from the wheel hub.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the lower suspension arm and move the arm down.
* Carefully remove the axle shaft from the gearbox.

4. Replacing the oil seal

* Using a flathead screwdriver, pry and remove the old oil seal from its socket.
* Clean the oil seal seat from dirt and old sealant.
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the outer edge of the new oil seal.
* Install the new oil seal into the socket by pressing it lightly.

5. Installation of the axle shaft and lever

* Carefully insert the axle shaft back into the transmission.
* Raise the lower control arm and secure it with bolts.
* Tighten the drive nut.

6. Wheel installation

* Reinstall the wheel.
* Tighten the wheel bolts.

7. Additional steps

* Fill the transmission with transmission fluid according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Connect the battery.
* Lower the car and drive it for a few minutes to allow the sealant to cure.

Notes:

* Replace seals on both drive shafts, even if only one is leaking.
* Use only manufacturer-recommended oil seals and sealant.
* Take safety precautions and work in a well-ventilated area.
