Tools and materials:
* Set of socket wrenches
* Hex key set
* Metal brush
* Grease for CV joints
* New drive seal
* Aluminum foil
* Rags
* Gloves
Replacement steps:
1. Prepare the car
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Loosen the wheel bolts on the right front wheel.
2. Remove the wheel
* Raise the vehicle using a jack and remove the right front wheel completely.
3. Remove the brake caliper
* Unscrew the brake caliper mounting bolts with a hex key and remove it.
* Hang the caliper with a wire or rope from the car body so that it does not hang on the brake hose.
4. Remove the brake disc
* Unscrew the brake disc mounting bolts and remove it.
5. Remove the drive shaft
* Insert aluminum foil between the inner and outer joints of the drive shaft to prevent dirt and dust from entering.
* Using a socket wrench, remove the bolts securing the outer joint to the wheel hub.
* Disconnect the outer joint from the hub by sliding it outward.
* Using a socket wrench, remove the bolts securing the inner joint to the transmission.
* Carefully remove the drive shaft from the transmission.
6. Remove the old oil seal
* Using a metal brush, clean the area around the oil seal from dirt and residue.
* Using a thin screwdriver or awl, carefully pry up the old oil seal and remove it from its seat.
7. Install a new oil seal
* Apply CV joint lubricant to the inside edge of the new oil seal.
* Insert the new oil seal into the seat by carefully tapping it with a hammer through a spacer (for example, a piece of wood or plastic).
* Make sure the oil seal is installed level and fully seated.
8. Install drive shaft
* Lubricate the outer drive shaft joint with CV joint lubricant.
* Insert the drive shaft into the gearbox.
* Tighten the inner hinge mounting bolts.
* Insert the outer joint into the wheel hub and tighten the mounting bolts.
*Remove the aluminum foil.
9. Install the brake disc and caliper
* Install the brake disc on the wheel hub.
* Install the brake caliper and tighten its mounting bolts.
10. Install the wheel
* Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts.
11. Lower the car
* Lower the car from the jack.
*Tighten the wheel bolts completely.
12. Check the automatic transmission fluid level
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level and, if necessary, add it to the level.
Notes:
* Bolt torques must be in accordance with vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
*Use only the recommended type of CV joint lubricant.
