Required tools and materials:
* New torque converter
* Transmission fluid
* New oil filter
* Hydraulic plate gasket
* Transmission housing gasket
* Transmission line O-rings
* Set of wrenches and sockets
* Lift or jack
* Stands
* Container for draining transmission fluid
* Rags
Replacement procedure:
1. Preparation:
* Place the vehicle on a lift or jack and securely secure it on stands.
* Allow the engine and transmission to cool.
2. Draining transmission fluid:
* Disconnect the transmission housing drain plug and drain the transmission fluid into a container.
3. Removing the gearbox housing:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox housing and remove it.
4. Removing the valve body:
* Disconnect the hoses and electrical connectors from the valve body.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the valve body to the gearbox housing and remove it.
5. Removing the torque converter:
* While holding the torque converter flange, remove the bolts securing it to the engine flywheel.
* Gently pull the torque converter to disconnect it from the transmission.
6. Installing a new torque converter:
* Install the new torque converter into place by sliding it onto the transmission shaft.
* Tighten the bolts securing the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
7. Installation of the hydraulic unit:
* Reinstall the valve body and tighten the bolts.
* Connect the hoses and electrical connectors to the valve body.
8. Installing the gearbox housing:
* Install a new transmission housing gasket.
* Reinstall the crankcase and tighten the bolts.
9. Filling with transmission fluid:
* Fill the transmission with new transmission fluid through the filler plug.
* Check the fluid level and add to the required level if necessary.
10. Resetting the transmission service counter:
*Connect the scanner to the OBDII connector and reset the transmission service counter.
11. Checking operation:
* Start the engine and shift the transmission through all gears, checking for proper operation.
* Check for transmission fluid leaks.
Adviсe:
* Be sure to use a new gasket when installing the valve body and transmission housing.
* Tighten bolts to the specified torque.
* Check the transmission fluid level after replacement and periodically during operation.
