Required tools and materials:

* Transmission fluid
* Automatic transmission filter
* New automatic transmission clutches
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant

Instructions for replacing Mazda Familia automatic transmission clutches:

Preparation:

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and secure it with the parking brake.
2. Allow the engine to cool.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Draining old transmission fluid:

1. Find the automatic transmission pan.
2. Loosen the drain plug using a wrench.
3. Collect the drained liquid in a container.

Removing the automatic transmission pan:

1. Loosen the bolts around the perimeter of the automatic transmission pan using a wrench.
2. Carefully remove the automatic transmission pan.

Replacing the automatic transmission filter:

1. Remove the old automatic transmission filter.
2. Install a new automatic transmission filter.

Replacing automatic transmission clutches:

1. Identify worn clutches by their condition (they may be worn, burnt or smooth).
2. Replace worn clutches with new ones.

Automatic transmission assembly:

1. Clean the automatic transmission pan and mating surfaces from the old gasket and sealant.
2. Apply new sealant to the automatic transmission pan gasket.
3. Install the new automatic transmission pan gasket in place.
4. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts to the required torque.

Filling with new transmission fluid:

1. Fill in new transmission fluid through the automatic transmission filler plug.
2. The fluid level should be between the “min” and “max” marks on the automatic transmission dipstick.

Checking the functionality of the automatic transmission:

1. Start the engine.
2. Shift the gear shift lever to each position (P, R, N, D, etc.).
3. Check whether the gear shifts correctly and there are no fluid leaks.

Final stage:

1. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Check the transmission fluid level after a short trip and add if necessary.
