Required tools and materials:
* Set of screwdrivers and wrenches
* Hydraulic press
* Carburetor or brake cleaner
* Sealant for automatic transmission
* New seals, clutches and steel discs (if necessary)
Execution order:
1. Removing the torque converter:
* Loosen the drain plug and drain the automatic transmission fluid.
* Disconnect the driveshaft.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
* Carefully remove the torque converter from the transmission.
2. Disassembling the torque converter:
*Using a screwdriver or thin metal object, carefully pry up the retaining ring at the base of the torque converter.
* Remove the torque converter housing and stator shaft.
* Remove the pump wheel from the stator shaft.
3. Cleaning and inspection:
* Clean all torque converter components with carburetor or brake cleaner.
* Carefully inspect parts for wear, damage or cracks.
4. Replacement of parts (if necessary):
*If any parts are damaged or worn, they must be replaced.
* Install new seals, clutches and steel discs according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Torque converter assembly:
* Apply automatic transmission sealant to the torque converter housing gasket.
* Install the gasket and torque converter housing.
* Install the pump wheel on the stator shaft.
* Insert the stator shaft into the torque converter housing.
* Install the standing ring and make sure it is securely fastened.
6. Installation of torque converter:
* Apply automatic transmission sealant to the contact surfaces between the torque converter and transmission.
*Insert the torque converter into the gearbox.
* Tighten the bolts securing the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
* Attach the driveshaft.
7. Filling automatic transmission fluid:
* Pour the required amount of automatic transmission fluid into the transmission.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
8. Check:
* Start the engine and check for automatic transmission fluid leaks.
* Shift through different gears and make sure that the transmission operates smoothly and without slipping.
