Materials:

* Transmission maintenance tool kit
* Carburetor cleaner
* New valve body gasket
* Transmission fluid

Warning:

* Allow the transmission to cool before starting work.
*Transmission pan supports are made of plastic and can crack easily. Handle them with care.

The procedure for removing the automatic transmission valve body:

1. Remove the transmission pan. Loosen the transmission pan bolts and carefully remove it. Drain the transmission fluid and clean the pan and gasket.
2. Disconnect the solenoid wiring harness. Locate the wiring harness going to the valve body solenoids and disconnect it.
3. Disconnect the cooling pipes. Place a container under the valve body to collect transmission fluid. Loosen the cooling pipes and allow the liquid to drain into a container.
4. Remove the valve body bolts. Locate the bolts holding the valve body to the transmission housing and loosen them.
5. Carefully remove the valve body. Grasp the valve body on both sides and gently pull it up and away from the transmission housing.
6. Inspect the valve body. Check the valve body for damage such as cracks or leaks.
7. Replace the valve body gasket. Remove the old gasket and replace it with a new one.
8. Reinstall the valve body. Place the valve body in place and tighten the bolts. Observe the specified tightening torque.
9. Connect the cooling pipes. Insert the cooling pipes into the valve body and tighten them.
10. Connect the solenoid wiring harness. Connect the wiring harness to the valve body solenoids.
11. Install the transmission pan. Install the transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
12. Add transmission fluid. Add transmission fluid to the specified level.

Functionality check:

1. Start the engine and let it idle.
2. Shift gear from “P” to “D” and back.
3. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations.
4. Check the transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
