Tools and materials:
* Tool set (wrenches, ratchets, sockets)
* Car stands
* Brush with metal bristles
* Lubricator
* New transmission pan gasket (if necessary)
* New gear oil (if necessary)
Procedure:
1. Prepare the car
* Place the vehicle in park and apply the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Raise the front of the car using a jack and install stands for safety.
2. Remove engine protection (if equipped)
* Locate the bolts that secure the engine guard to the frame.
* Loosen and remove the bolts.
* Remove the engine protection.
3. Drain transmission oil
* Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan.
* Place a pan to collect the oil.
* Carefully loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain.
*Wait until the oil has completely drained.
4. Disconnect electrical wiring
* Locate the electrical connectors on the transmission.
* Carefully disconnect the connectors.
5. Disconnect the drive wheel shaft
* Locate the bolts securing the drive wheel shaft to the wheel hub.
* Loosen and remove the bolts.
* Carefully remove the drive shaft from the hub.
6. Support the gearbox
* Place a transmission jack or support under the transmission.
*Adjust the height of the support so that it supports the gearbox.
7. Disconnect the gearbox from the engine
*Locate the bolts holding the transmission to the engine.
* Loosen and remove the bolts.
* Carefully separate the transmission from the engine.
8. Remove the gearbox
* Carefully lower the transmission from the transmission jack or support.
* Make sure that the gearbox does not touch other components.
* Carefully remove the transmission from under the vehicle.
9. Clean the mating surfaces
* Clean the engine and transmission mating surfaces using a wire brush.
* Remove all dirt and remnants of the old gasket.
10. Install a new gasket (if necessary)
* If the old gasket was damaged, install a new gasket on the engine mating surface.
11. Install the gearbox
* Carefully lift the gearbox into place.
* Align the transmission with the engine and drive wheel shaft mating.
* Slowly install the gearbox into place.
12. Tighten the transmission mounting bolts
* Install the transmission mounting bolts and tighten them.
* Tighten the bolts gradually and in a crisscross pattern to distribute the pressure evenly.
13. Connect the drive wheel shaft
* Insert the drive wheel shaft into the wheel hub.
* Install the drive wheel shaft mounting bolts and tighten them.
14. Connect the electrical wiring
* Connect the electrical connectors to the transmission.
* Make sure the connectors are fully connected and latched in place.
15. Fill with new transmission oil
* Determine the required amount of transmission oil for your car model.
* Pour new gear oil through the filler hole in the gearbox.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick and add oil if necessary.
16. Install engine protection (if equipped)
* Reinstall the engine protection.
* Install and tighten the guard mounting bolts.
17. Connect the negative terminal of the battery
*Connect the negative terminal of the battery to the battery terminal.
18. Lower the car
* Lower the car using a jack.
*Remove the stands.
19. Check the operation of the gearbox
* Start the engine and change gears.
* Make sure the gearbox operates smoothly and without any abnormal noise or vibration.
Note:
* Be careful when performing this procedure as the gearbox is heavy.
* It is recommended to use a transmission jack or support to support the transmission.
* After installing the gearbox, be sure to check the gear oil level and add if necessary.
