Tools and materials:
* Set of keys
* Flat head screwdriver
* Car stand
* Jack
* Drain pan
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
* New pan gasket
Safety:
* Make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is applied.
* Allow the engine to cool before operating.
* Wear protective gloves and goggles.
Procedure:
1. Preparation
* Raise the front of the car with a jack and place stands under it for safety.
* Locate the transmission pan drain plug and install a drain pan underneath it.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the transmission fluid into the pan.
2. Removing the pallet
* Remove the bolts securing the pan around the perimeter.
* Carefully remove the pan from the transmission using a flathead screwdriver.
* Remove the old gasket.
3. Disconnecting sensors
* Unscrew the bolts securing the wiring harness terminals to the gearbox.
* Disconnect the terminals from the sensors.
4. Disconnecting drive shafts
* Pull the inner drive shaft out of the gearbox.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the outer drive shaft to the wheel hub.
* Carefully remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub.
5. Unscrewing the fastening bolts
* Unscrew all bolts securing the gearbox to the engine and car body.
6. Removing the gearbox
* Use a transmission jack or assistant to support the transmission.
* Carefully slide the transmission rearward to disengage it from the engine.
* Lower the gearbox using a jack or an assistant.
7. Installation
* Raise the transmission using a jack or an assistant and align it with the engine.
* Insert the gearbox into the engine and secure it with bolts.
* Connect the drive shafts, sensors and wiring terminals.
8. Installation of the pallet
* Install a new gasket on the pan.
*Attach the pan to the transmission and tighten the bolts.
9. Filling with transmission fluid
* Pour new transmission fluid into the drain hole.
* Check the fluid level on the dipstick and add if necessary.
10. Collection
* Complete the vehicle assembly by following the procedure in reverse order.
* Lower the vehicle to the ground and remove the stands.
* Reset the maintenance mileage counter, if available.
