Required tools and materials:
* Set of keys and sockets
* Screwdriver with ratchet
* Driver with extensions
* Wheel bearing puller or universal puller
* New automatic transmission filter and pan gasket
* New automatic transmission oil (about 6 liters)
* Rags
* Gloves
Precautions:
* Observe safety precautions while working.
* Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is set.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Allow the engine and automatic transmission to cool before starting work.
Ford Mondeo 4 Powershift automatic transmission removal procedure:
1. Preparation:
* Raise the car on a lift or place it on stands.
* Remove the wheels from both sides of the car.
2. Removing drive shafts:
* Disconnect the ball joints from the steering knuckles.
* Disconnect the tie rods from the tie rod ends.
* Remove the brake calipers and hang them on wire or special hooks.
* Using a wheel bearing puller or universal puller, remove the drive shafts from the transmission.
3. Removing the subframe:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the subframe to the body.

* Insert the coupling bolts into the special holes in the automatic transmission housing.
* Connect rigging or chains to the tie bolts.
* Slowly and carefully remove the automatic transmission from the engine using lifting equipment.
6. Replacing the filter and gasket:
* Drain the automatic transmission oil.
* Remove the automatic transmission pan.
* Replace the automatic transmission filter.
* Install a new pan gasket.
* Clean the tray and reinstall it.
7. Automatic transmission installation:
* Carefully install the automatic transmission into place using lifting equipment.
* Tighten the starter mounting bolts.
* Tighten the torque converter mounting bolts.
* Connect the electrical wiring and hoses to the automatic transmission.
8. Installation of the subframe:
* Raise the subframe to its original position.
* Tighten the bolts securing the subframe to the body.
9. Installation of drive shafts:
*Insert the drive shafts into the transmission.
* Reinstall the brake calipers.
* Connect the tie rods to the tie rod ends.
* Attach the ball joints to the steering knuckles.
10. Final work:
* Reinstall the wheels.
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Fill the automatic transmission with new oil according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Check the oil level in the automatic transmission.
* Reset automatic transmission adaptations using a diagnostic scanner.
* Test the operation of the automatic transmission.
