Location of the automatic transmission reduction resistor on Nissan Almera N15:

1. Open the hood.
2. Find the automatic transmission control unit. It is located next to the battery.
3. There will be a plug with many wires on the block.
4. Find the wire labeled “ECM”, usually green.
5. A pull-down resistor is located at the end of the “ECM” wire.

Troubleshooting:

If the pull-down resistor is faulty, the following symptoms may result:

* Problems with gear shifting
* Melting wires
* Automatic transmission overheating

Replacement:

To replace the pull-down resistor, follow these steps:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Disconnect the plug from the automatic transmission control unit.
3. Remove the old pull-down resistor from the “ECM” wire.
4. Install a new pull-down resistor.
5. Connect the plug to the automatic transmission control unit.
6. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

Note:

* It is recommended to use a new OEM pull-down resistor.
* Before replacing the resistor, check the integrity of the wires and contacts.
